A true 2 1/2 inch cartridge with a shot weight of 14 gms (1/2oz) was developed for use in traditional English guns and also a slightly heavier 19gm load for those guns with 2 3/4inch (70mm) chambers. Shortly after the introduction of these two cartridges many game shooters asked Lyalvale if it was possible to produce a heavier load suitable for 2 1/2inch chambered guns. Again the development team went away and replied to the request with the 21gm (3/4oz) game shell. This was achieved by the utilisation of a roll turn over Enclosure (RTO) which allows more shot in the case. In keeping with game shooting tradition it was decided only to produce the 28gauge cartridges in shot sizes 6 and 7, However with the introduction of NSSA skeet the addition of shot size No 9 happened in 1997. To maintain our reputation we only use the finest components. The case is a traditional Red manufactured in the EEC. The powder used is the very well respected Vectan propellant made in France by the SNPE Group. Vectan powder achieves consistent ballistics while being clean burning and efficient. As with all Lyalvale cartridges the lead is of finest Italian quality, all told this combination of components gives rise to the ultimate in 28 gauge performance. |
